Emotional Responsibiity04/24/2019
Emotional energy is created from within, and radiates invisibly into the environment. Because everyone can 'feel their feelings,' does this make each individual responsible for the emotional waves, fields and energy they output?

I figured ok, I'll bite. I didn't really want to work on what I had planned to do anyway. This was the video: |

There's a few important points I'd like to make about this video:
1) Empaths are especially sensitive to this, and understand the contagious nature of emotions intuitively.
2) At 2:05, she gives a fantastic example anyone can observe of how our brains create emotions underneath our awareness (unless attention is brought to it, we take certain things mostly for granted.)
3) The bit about gestures is another way to explain and apply one element of the fifth versatile method in Everyday Energy Part One.
4) From 4:47 until her big question, Van Edwards highlights some physiological ways we can tell our emotions are contagious
5) The sweat thing can apply to more than just fear. In my experience, desperation, depression and anger have their own "scent" as well.
6) At 6 minutes in, she asks her big question. I follow this line of questioning with my own (should we each be held responsible for our emotional transmission on our environment?).

Rationalizing Empathic Contagions
At 7:18, Van Edwards begins talking about rationalizing the emotions we've "caught" from others. This is something that empaths must confront before being able to discern between their own emotions and those of others nearby. It is this rationalization of the mind that causes many empaths to suffer unknowingly, having absorbed, accepted and rationalized foreign emotions while believing them to be their own. Based on this function of the mind, it could be said that the only real difference between an empath and everyone else is that the empath can tell the difference between true and "caught" emotions. |
Interpretations, Not Proof
Let me stop right here- Vanessa Van Edwards is in no way affiliated with Metaphysiology, and her data does not directly prove that emotional energy is real (nor does it prove it isn't). I've seen way too many others in the metaphysical genre connect things like this to some bold claim of proof, bordering on (or outright crossing into) pseudoscience.
What this could mean, though, is that my belief that emotions are charged energy may simply be an interpretation my mind could work with. Or, it could be a complementary phenomenon, where both her data and the energy waves are connected in some way. It could mean a lot of things. However, those are all mere speculation and relegated to the realm of belief and spirituality until directly tested.
What Works For You
Personally, I don't mind accepting the possibility that it's all "in my head." Psychology is a fascinating area of study, and the brain is exceptionally powerful as a tool we take for granted regularly. It's not my belief, but from time to time I'll set down the spiritual stuff and really take in the cold logic by itself. No matter what the interpretation, the basics remain the same: emotions are affected by things and people, and also have an affect on others (and possibly things as well). Whatever point of view works for you, go with it.
When Vanessa discussed "borrowing" excitement from previous experiences to lend to the moment (15:26), it sounded very reminiscent of the fifth type of locations in my upcoming book, Everyday Energy Part Two:The Right Location. It also loosely reminds me of the stories element of versatile energies in Everyday Energy Part One. However, to others it could be interpreted as using a complex combination of interactive visualization and partnered affirmations. For those that have suffered abuses, it may even trigger memories of manipulation.
All in all, I think Vanessa's end message is upbeat and likely beneficial: focus on spreading the "right" emotions by changing a few simple casual questions you say every day. And with that being said,
