The Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. So many people seem to ignore that quote, doing instead what seems to benefit themselves at the cost of others. As interconnected as our world has become, it is still easy to doubt that reciprocity is even a useful concept anymore.

Being independent in America is one of the most prized attributes. Even when seeking a partner, a common prerequisite is that they can take care of themselves.
