An end, or a beginning? Depends on what direction you're facing.

The winter solstice is today, in roughly 11 hours from this posting. Though it may seem short notice, the winter solstice is possibly one of the most powerful holidays of the year - perhaps that's why so many holidays seem to overlap it.
Christmas, Hanukkah, Yule, and many others follow the same general theme of the winter solstice. It is an end to one solar cycle and the beginning of another. But it may not seem like it: winter doesn't actually start until after the solstice. Which means each new solar cycle begins with the cold, dark silent contemplation of winter.
This is a time to let go of what isn't serving you, or hang on dearly to what is. The chill indifference of winter is about to test every resolve you've got, so make them count. Reflect today on what habits you have trouble getting rid of, and offer them in place of those you've struggled to maintain. Double down on your efforts with those you want to keep, and turn your back on stubborn behaviors. Winter may favor you and take it while you're focused elsewhere.
If you've got effort to spare after that, it's a great idea to check in on your neighbors. Not necessarily the people living next to you, but those in your life near and dear to you. This may be a time when they need a helping hand, but are "silenced" by the cold in the atmosphere. Give them warmth, sustenance, and pray for good fortune to bless them.
Gift giving, charity, reflection and resolutions are all a part of the winter solstice. While the most powerful moment is the exact time the sun ceases its descent, the weeks leading up to and after the solstice hold quite a bit of power as well.
There are tons of different perspectives about the winter solstice. Check out some other references to better understand what magicks and energies are open to you on this occasion:

The overall theme is to draw a definitive line between what you're leaving behind and what you're taking with you into the next new cycle. And if you find yourself bountiful, spread the love and help others make their way through the darkness as well.
Remember not to begin anything, though. This may begin the new cycle, but anything freshly started during this time will have the harshness of the frozen night to battle. If you have to begin new projects, then know that it will be a rough start. If not, you might be better off waiting for spring like the rest of nature.
**Side note: Obviously the winter solstice interrupted the weekly wrap-up. The next week or so may get a bit wonky battling the storm, so be prepared for a bit of chaos!
