You Are What You Consume
Just as your food can affect the health of your body, what you read, watch, or listen to can affect the health of your mind. All entertainment is not created equally, but neither are any forms innately damaging in of themselves. Knowing what metaphysical (or just plain psychological) effects certain resources can have is crucial to choosing those that align with your goals.
Sometimes you just want to watch that show, or listen to that song without worrying about how it will affect you. That's ok. Once in awhile, not knowing is completely fine and you can deal with the consequences for better or worse. However, a habit of ignorance is never good no matter what the topic.
For those that are looking for professional help medically, psychologically or otherwise, it may be overwhelming. Though they may not be entertaining, even those services are "consumables," as you are putting yourself in the hands of a particular experience for a purpose.
Being mindful of your options and how they might help or harm may be a valuable resource in and of itself.
This Blog Is Itself A Resource!
As such, the effects of this blog may disillusion you to certain books, shows, music, etc. you may have taken for granted. This may compel you toward forms of entertainment previously avoided, and limit forms you may currently enjoy. But before you leave, ask yourself this very important question:
Is anything as trivial as a resource (entertainment or otherwise) worth ignoring the potential damage it causes?
The purpose of this blog is to give you the understanding of how certain resources may affect your life in ways you aren't currently aware. The hope is that it will give you the choice to alter your habits as you see fit to be metaphysically healthy, happy, and whole.
Sacrificing Gratification For Wisdom And Peace
It's not the intention of this blog to outright convince anyone to stop enjoying anything.
You are in control of your own life, and are perfectly capable of managing even damaging resources for their benefits. This blog will only seek to inform so that you might consider if the exchange is worth it to you.
That being said, you can expect new perspectives on familiar things, and insight on others you may not have known about before. Take comfort in knowing the awareness can give you more control over what influences you and your life!
